Lusty old Ben provided thought provoking advice to young men on commerce with the fairer sex in his Autobiography. “In all your Amours you should prefer old Women to young ones. You call this a Paradox, and demand my Reasons. They are these.” He then goes on to list his eight reasons, ending with “8thly and Lastly, They are so grateful!!”
I suppose there are a number of reasons why he is considered one of the Founding Fathers, along with George Washington, “who slept here.”
Thank you for the obvious reminder that what we feed our brains programs them. I avoid the addictive and ‘bad’ things for me by filing them inside tiny folders on my phone, which requires an active intention to find and engage. It works well!
This is so true. I am happier and more optimistic when I choose what I read with more care.
I like social media, because I get to sample what consumes other people. Yet when the algorithm gives me nothing but negativity, I must learn how to zap away in time.

Oh dear. Once again I've spent too much time doing online Sudoku, because it's quick now! Thank you for this timely reminder; my brain is clearly reprogrammed to be able to solve puzzles which involve putting numbers in squares. Not very useful, and I'll resolve here to stop wasting this time!
Recalibrating our brain requires focus and change in environment then we can shape ourselves into new beings without being distracted. This was a good letter
You’re absolutely right! The content we consume shapes our thoughts and actions. Being intentional about it can truly enrich our lives. Thanks for the great reminder!
This really made a huge impact on me, thank you for taking the time to write this and inspire other writers with your heartfelt pen to paper. I am truly appreciative of it.
what I luv about Jen Hitze is she obviously deliberates on what she publishes! It is always qualitative not quantitative. She always gives me something to chew on which in this world of fly by night is so eventful. I tip my hat. cheers
Benjamin Franklin suggesting Chastity? This feels like Richard Dawkins arguing for piety.

'When engaging with popular content, we seldom pause to ask: Is this kind? Is it loving? Is it necessary? Is it true?'
